This house is located in Bown Crossing in a subdivision called Riverwalk and is the most unique house around. It was built in 2006 and has six bedrooms and five and a half baths. The style of this house has features of both International and Art Deco. The features that point to Art Deco as the style would be the stucco exterior and several curved walls. The horizontal roof and the “boxy look” show a sort of International style. The flat roof is also a part of the Art Deco style. But again, this house is very unique and it is difficult to classify. Art Deco usually has some decoration and this house has quite a bit, from the wall that is stone, to the minute details of the door handles, which look like sticks tied with leather. Also, the lights on the house are the same decorative design but in different sizes. The house shows both form and function as well. For example the chimney is very decorative, but is also serves its purpose as a chimney. Also, the windows are very reflective, so they give a feel that the house is connected with the outside, but the residents also have their privacy. The house seems very “user friendly.” With the many decks and patios a person can easily sit and relax in the sun, or unwind in the shade on the patios in the back. It could be possible to give this house a classification of its own.

The uniqueness of the house is what makes it significant for architecture. Most houses that have been built recently in the subdivisions in Boise look the same, generally speaking. None stand out very well, or make you think, “I want to live there some day!” This house however, is like no other house. The importance of this house would be to set a precedent for other architects to consider broadening their ideas on houses. Hopefully the idea of conformity will soon die and personality could be added to homes to make life more interesting.
